Hong Kong pro-democracy party votes to disband
The chairman of Hong Kong's Civic Party, Alan Leong, announced May 27 that the pro-democracy party is disbanding following a resolution by a majority of members. The Civic Party, one of the few remaining pro-democracy parties in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, was founded in 2006. Since Beijing passed the controversial national security law in 2020, multiple Civic Party members have been charged with "subversion." Party members were also accused of organizing and participating in an unauthorized primary election in July 2020.

Hong Kong ex-legislators charged with 'separatism'
Hong Kong authorities on July 3 brought charges under the National Security Law against eight activists, accusing them of advocating separation from China. Former Hong Kong legislators Dennis Kwok and Ted Hui are among those sought by authorities. (Jurist)
Hong Kong police raid pro-democracy activist's family home
The National Security Department of the Hong Kong Police Force reportedly raided the family home of fugitive pro-democracy activist Nathan Law on July 11, questioning his parents and brother. Law, accused of violating the National Security Law, has fled Hong Kong for the United Kingdom. (Jurist)
Hong Kong: police question pro-democracy activist's family
Hong Kong Police National Security Department officials questioned on July 20 several relatives of two wanted activists, Dennis Kwok and Mung Siu-tat. They are among the activists wanted by Hong Kong authorities since July 3, when the Hong Kong Police Force issued arrest orders. There are no official press releases in relation to the questioning, but several local media reported the news, including state-owned media Wenweipo, as well as legislator Joephy Chan. (Jurist)

Hong Kong's national security police reportedly took away and questioned the ex-wife and two children of Elmer Yuan Gong-yi on Aug. 3. Yuan, who has fled Hong Kong, is a pro-democracy activist wanted by Hong Kong authorities as a fugitive accused of violating the National Security Law. (Jurist)
Hong Kong police target activist's family —again
Hong Kong security police detained and questioned the sister-in-law of Hong Kong fugitive pro-democracy activist Nathan Law-Kwun-Chung on Aug. 19, according to Hong Kong’s public broadcaster and local media. The wife of Law's older brother was taken away by the National Security Department of the Hong Kong Police Force after a home raid. (Jurist)
