Sudan is planning to disarm, demobilize and re-integrate over 180,000 soldiers into civilian life. Child soldiers are the first focus, with some 1,300 already demobilized. But many worry that continuing war in the western region of Darfur could destabilize peace efforts elsewhere, especially with potential genocide charges looming over President Omar al-Bashir.
