Israel burying nuclear waste near Hebron?

An article on Electronic Intifada alleges Israel is burying nuclear waste from its Dimona research reactor at a location on the occupied West Bank. The Dimona facility is at a remote location in the Negev desert, but evidence is emerging that the waste is being dumped at a Palestinian village south of Hebron, where the population suffers from a variety of mysterious health problems. Issa Samandar writes May 19:

There have been reports that Dimona's nuclear waste is dumped in El Dahriya, a Palestinian village, South of El-Khalil or commonly known as Hebron. First, big holes are dug in the ground, then the waste is dumped followed by a cement cover up, on which fake rocks are placed that are sealed with screws. The surrounding villages were not informed about these hazardous practices. Instead they learned about it through an increase of their communities' alarming health problems, which are solely caused by being exposed to nuclear radioactivity.

Retired IDF officer: generals corrupt

The following post was made after an excellent Gideon Levy commentary on Ha'aretz, which blames Israel for the widely expected next outbreak of violence.

I'm assuming the poster is authentic because Ha'aretz moderates its comments, and he posts a lot.

The fault lies in the mythical invincibility of our failure-prone IDF

Todays IDF is viewed by its General Staff as a mere stepping stone into politics and real riches, not as a responsibility for the safety and best interests of the state of Israel. After serving 30 years in the IDF I guarantee this statement is factual.

Weinberg vs. "self-haters": you decide

There is a vigorous if not always civil debate going on in WW4's weblog over the Israel lobby. See here, and here.

Part of the debate is over referring to the US Congress as "Israeli occupied territory" or "Likud occupied territory." WW4 Report editor Weinberg maintains that referring to Congress as "Israeli occupied territory" is anti-Semitic. According to Wikipedia, "Zionist Occupied Government," also known as "ZOG," is neo-Nazi terminology:

The term is believed to derive from the text "Welcome to ZOG-World", written by the American neo-Nazi Eric Thomson in 1976. It appears to have first been brought to widespread attention in a December 27, 1984 article in the New York Times about robberies committed in California and Washington state by a white supremacist group, The Order. According to the newspaper, the crimes "were conducted to raise money for a war upon the United States Government, which the group calls "ZOG," or Zionist Occupation Government."

Tanya Reinhart on the academic boycott

WHY US? (On the academic boycott)
Tanya Reinhart

Yediot Aharonot, May 4, 2005. Translated from Hebrew by Mark Marshall.

A boycott decision, like that passed by Britain’s Association of University Teachers to boycott two Israeli universities, naturally raises a hue and cry among Israelis. Why us? And why now, “just when negotiations with the Palestinians might be renewed

IDF kills 2 teens at protest

On the 35th anniversary of the murder of four non-violent protestors at Kent State, comes this press release from the International Solidarity Movement:

Pentagon analyst arrested in AIPAC spy scandal

Larry Franklin, the Pentagon analyst suspected of passing classified information to American Israeli Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) bigs, has been arrested by the FBI. Franklin, who recently went back to work at the Pentagon, turned down goverment offers to cooperate. Previously, it was reported that the information Franklin passed to AIPAC had to do with Israeli agents in Kurdistan. Now Ha'aretz is reporting Franklin is charged with passing the lobbying group "classified information about potential attacks against U.S. forces in Iraq." If this is not a reporting error, it sounds like a potentially more serious charge. Ha'aretz also writes, maybe a little too hopefully, "Franklin's arrest indicates that the AIPAC affair may be nearly over."

Peres comes out against parade

That was the headline on the Jewish Telegraphic Agency website on May 3. The article continues:

Shimon Peres sided with religious activists in opposing a gay
parade planned for Jerusalem.

Israel's vice premier said in a statement Tuesday that Jerusalem
WorldPride 2005, scheduled for August, "is inappropriate as Jerusalem
is the center of three faiths, and such an event could offend the
sensibilities of religious people the world over." Sephardi Chief
Rabbi Shlomo Amar, who met Peres last week, said Peres told him he
found the annual parade in the holy city repellant, something the

Anti-Semitic conspiracy theory in The Forward!!

As we here at WW4 REPORT know, Israel is a client state of the American empire. In the following article in the well-known anti-Semitic conspirazoid publication The Forward, Ori Nir claims that the recent sacking of two AIPAC officials resulting from the Franklin affair threatens "Israeli efforts to secure swift American action against Iran's nuclear program." That kind of "wag-the-dog" theory is anti-Semitic. As WW4 REPORT editor Weinberg noted on this blog, it is obviously the US that is pushing Israel, its client state, to do its bidding:"Is Israel going to take the bait? Will the Israeli leadership ever realize that playing attack dog for US imperialism is utterly counter-productive to the longterm survival and security of their own state?"
