In Episode 77 [13] of the CounterVortex podcast [14], Bill Weinberg applauds The Young Turks [15] for challenging the increasingly hegemonic pro-Assad consensus on the American "left," with incisive programming on the 2018 Douma chemical attack [16] and this year's sham elections [17] that confirmed the dictator's rule. For calling out the relentless disinformation [18], they are of course coming under withering attack [19] from Aaron Maté [20], Jimmy Dore [21], Katie Halper [22], Roger Waters [23] and other stateside exponents of the Kremlin propaganda machine [24]. Disgracefully, similar exponents, e.g., Ben Norton [20], are now predictably lining up behind the Burmese junta [25]. Forthright repudiation of this toxic tendency is long overdue.
