Four were killed Jan. 9 in a presumed US drone strike on the village of Ismail Khan in the Dattakhel area of North Waziristan. Pakistani Taliban leader Hakeemullah Mehsud (presumed successor to Baitullah Mehsud) is said to be "under treatment" for "serious injuries" sustained in a US drone strike in North Waziristan Jan. 14. US drone raids reportedly killed more than 700 civilians in Pakistan in 2009. (Daily Times, Jan. 16; Press TV, Jan. 15)

Pakistani officials say several suspected US drone attacks killed at least 29 people in North Waziristan Feb. 2. It is believed at least eight drones took part in the attack, firing nearly 20 missiles. One of the suspected targets was Taliban leader Sirajuddin Haqqani. However, published reports quote a commander speaking on the condition of anonymity that Haqqani "is alive and was not in the area at the time of the attack." (AHN, Feb. 3)

A suspected US drone strike killed at least five fighters at a suspected training camp Feb. 14 near the town of Mir Ali in North Waziristan, Pakistani intelligence officials said. (AlJazeera, Feb. 15)

At least four people were killed Feb. 17 in a US drone strike on a house in Tapi Tolkhel village, just five kilometers from the border with the Afghan province of Khost. The attack was the third in as many days in North Waziristan district. (Press TV, Feb. 17)
