Separatist guerillas in Assam, India, pose with their weapons. As India's government attempts to negotiate peace with multiple ethnic insurgencies in the country's remote northeast, survivors of those killed in generations of political violence fear that justice for their lost loved ones will be sacrificed. One emblematic case is that of journalist Kamala Saikia, an elderly veteran of India's independence struggle assassinated by the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) in 1991. As the government seeks a peace deal with the ULFA, his family still waits for a single conviction in his slaying. Nava Thakuria reports from India's conflicted Assam state for World War 4 Report.
