WHY WE FIGHT

From the Daily News, April 16:

2 die as cars plunge from highways
Two people were killed early yesterday morning in unrelated accidents that sent their cars plummeting from city highways, cops said.

Gretchen Patterson, 48, of Powell St., Brooklyn, was driving southbound on the Henry Hudson Parkway at about 12:30 a.m. when a suspected drunken driver traveling at more than 95 mph rear-ended her vehicle, propelling it over the highway wall and 25 feet down into Riverside Park, police said.

She was pronounced dead at St. Luke's Hospital, police said.

Joseph Harris, 29, of Lenox Ave., Harlem, was charged with vehicular manslaughter and driving while intoxicated, police said.

About 30 minutes later, Rabindranat Ramjanack, 25, of S. Fifth Ave., Mount Vernon, was heading north on the Bronx River Parkway when he lost control of his car near 233rd St., cops said.

His 2004 Acura jumped the guardrail and plunged about 35 feet, landing on an unoccupied Metro-North Railroad utility truck. Ramjanack died instantly, and a 17-year-old male passenger was injured, cops said.

The passenger is in stable condition at Jacobi Medical Center.

A police source said Ramjanack's car may have been going about 100 mph.
