In the seventh YouTube edition of the Moorish Orthodox Radio Crusade [4], World War 4 Report [5] editor Bill Weinberg [6], just returned from Peru where he was on assignment for The Progressive [7], speaks at the Libertarian Book Club [8]'s Anarchist Forum [9] on the Quechua indigenous struggle [10] against US-backed mining projects and in defense of land, water and autonomy in the Andes.
ANNOTATION: This event was held May 15 [11] at the Brecht Forum [12] in New York City, but organized by the Libertarian Book Club/Anarchist Forum. The Libertarian Book Club, New York's oldest active anarchist institution, was founded by Jewish and Italian exiles from fascist Europe in 1946. We are not right-wing, capital-L Libertarians. We are left-wing anarchists. When LBC was founded, the word "libertarian" had not yet been co-opted by the free-market right, and was basically a synonym for "anti-authoritarian" or "anarchist." We stubbornly refuse to surrender the name.
The closing music was recorded at the Macroregional Assembly [13] held March 17 in Cajamarca, bringing together popular leaders from throughout northern Peru. The Andean version of the alpine horn prominently featured is called a clarón.
