Best hope to destroy ISIS: indigenous resistance?

The independent Kurdish news agency Rojava reports that the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and Kurdish People's Defense Units (YPG) have formed a joint operations force to fight ISIS in the Euphrates Valley region of northern Syria. The YPG is aligned with the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), which is socialist as well as secular, and increasingly anarchist-leaning. Its forces in northern Iraq and Syria have been on the frontline of resisting ISIS. The indigenous resistance forces on the ground may be the best bet to beat back ISIS—but they receive no solidarity from "progressives" in the West, who make the question entirely about US intervention.
